The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the house-to-house phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026, marking a significant milestone in the preparation of a clean, accurate and inclusive Electoral Roll for the State.
As on 30th July, 2026, 100% of the State’s electorate comprising 23,49,645 electors have been covered, with all 23,49,645 Enumeration Forms successfully distributed and digitized, reflecting the unwavering commitment and coordinated efforts of the entire election machinery.

The digitized data indicates that:
- 7,75,337 electors (33.00%) have been mapped as Self, with their own electoral records successfully linked to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2005 database.
- 11,69,670 electors (49.78%) have been mapped as Progeny, with their records linked to the electoral records of their parents or grandparents available in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2005 database.
- A total of 2,24,234 electors (9.54% of the total electorate) could not be linked with the records of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2005 and have been categorised under the “No Mapping” category. These cases will undergo detailed verification during the Notice Phase, including the period for disposal of Claims and Objections, which is scheduled from 5 August, 2026 to 3 October, 2026, in accordance with the provisions of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 and the instructions of the Election Commission of India. During this period, electors will be provided due opportunity to furnish the necessary information and supporting documents, wherever required, before any decision is taken on their electoral status.
ASDD Verification
As part of the verification exercise, 1,80,404 electors (7.68% of the total electorate) have been identified under the Absent, Shifted, Deceased and Duplicate (ASDD) categories. The break-up is as follows:
- Deceased: 81,490 (3.47%)
- EF not returned: 45,013 (1.92%)
- Permanently Shifted: 42,532 (1.81%)
- EF Refused: 4,668 (0.20%)
- Already Enrolled (Duplicate): 6,701 (0.29%)
The Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya, thanked all recognized National and State Political Parties for their constructive cooperation throughout the Special Intensive Revision. The valuable support rendered by the Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by political parties has greatly contributed to transparency, public participation and the successful implementation of the revision process.
The Chief Electoral Officer also placed on record his sincere appreciation to the entire election machinery, including the District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs), BLO Supervisors, Election Technical Team, District SIR Teams, Data Entry Operators, and all officers and staff associated with the Special Intensive Revision. Their tireless dedication, teamwork and professionalism have enabled Meghalaya to achieve 100% distribution and digitization within the prescribed timeline.
The Office also acknowledges with gratitude the support extended by Dorbar Shnongs, Nokmas, community leaders, civil society organisations, recognized political parties, media houses, and above all, the citizens of Meghalaya, whose active participation and cooperation have made the house-to-house phase of the Special Intensive Revision a remarkable success.
With the completion of the enumeration phase, the election machinery will now focus on the verification of No Mapping and ASDD cases and the completion of all statutory processes leading to the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll on 5 August, 2026, in accordance with the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India.
