The Draft Electoral Roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026, with October 1, 2026 as the qualifying date, was officially published on Wednesday for all five Assembly Constituencies in West Jaintia Hills District, in accordance with the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The draft rolls were formally handed over to recognised political parties during a programme held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, West Jaintia Hills District, and at the office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Amlarem.
Electors can verify their names and electoral details through their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the ECINET Mobile App, the Voters’ Service Portal, and the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya website.
The Claims and Objections period will remain open from August 5 to September 4, 2026. Eligible citizens whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll may apply for inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with the prescribed declaration form and supporting documents. Applications for corrections, deletions, transposition, or other permissible changes can also be submitted through the concerned BLO or online via the ECINET Mobile App and the Voters’ Service Portal.
To ensure transparency, the Election Commission will publish the list of claims and objections received on a weekly basis. Any person aggrieved by an order of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) on a claim or objection may file an appeal before the District Magistrate under Section 24(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. A second appeal, where applicable, may be made to the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya, under the provisions of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.
The district administration has urged all voters to carefully verify their names and electoral particulars in the draft roll and report any discrepancies or omissions to the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), or Booth Level Officer (BLO) during the claims and objections period.
The Election Commission of India reiterated its commitment to conducting a transparent, participative, and inclusive electoral roll revision process to ensure that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to be enrolled and that the electoral roll remains accurate, complete, and up to date.
