The state-wide recruitment drive organized by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), in collaboration with the Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training (DECT) and participating employers, began today, August 18, at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills.

            The inaugural programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar, IAS, Skill Development Officer Boimi Dkhar, ITI Khliehriat Vice-Principal G. Sohshang and MSSDS staff.

            Addressing the gathering, Kumar said the initiative provides an important opportunity for local youth, particularly those who have completed Classes 10 and 12, to gain skills and secure employment in various sectors within India and abroad.

            He informed that additional recruitment camps will be held at Saipung and Lumshnong Blocks on August 19 and 21 respectively, and urged eligible youths to participate.

            Skill Development Officer Dkhar said Phase-II of the recruitment drive offers around 10,000 employment opportunities through approximately 6,000 employers across different sectors. Opportunities are available for candidates ranging from Class 8, 10 and 12 pass-outs to ITI holders, graduates and professionally qualified candidates.

            The vacancies cover sectors such as hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, customer support, electrical, construction and other service occupations. Employers are also offering benefits including accommodation, food, transportation, on-job training, PF, ESI and incentives.

            The drive also provides overseas employment and training opportunities in countries including Germany, Japan, Australia, Poland, Oman, UAE, Mauritius, Singapore and others. Overseas vacancies include nursing, healthcare, hospitality, automobile, construction, electrical and manufacturing jobs, with some positions offering salaries of over ₹2.75 lakh per month.
