The Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District has issued a prohibitory order to curb the increasing incidence of roadside cooking, littering, indiscriminate disposal of waste, and related activities at tourism destinations, roadways and public places. 

The Order prohibits roadside cooking, including the use of firewood, charcoal, LPG cylinders, or any other fuel on road shoulders, viewpoints and public places. 

The Order also prohibits littering and throwing of plastic, food waste, bottles, cans, packaging materials, or any other garbage as well as the indiscriminate disposal or dumping of solid or liquid waste in public places, forests, water bodies, drains, or roadside areas. 

The Order has been issued in the interest of public safety,environmental protection, cleanliness, sanitation and preservation of the scenic beauty of West Jaintia Hills District. 

The Order shall come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
