The Office of the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, has announced that all local taxis and auto rickshaws operating within the district must obtain an official identification sticker between September 7 and November 6, 2026.

The sticker will be issued at a fee of ₹150 per vehicle. Owners or their representatives who fail to obtain the sticker within the stipulated period will have to pay a late fee of ₹500 thereafter.

To receive the sticker, applicants must produce the original and photocopies of the following valid and updated documents:

  • Registration Certificate
  • Permit
  • Insurance Certificate
  • Fitness Certificate
  • Trading Licence (for non-tribal owners)
  • Professional Tax receipt
  • Passenger Tax receipt
  • M.L.M.T.U Certificate
  • Pollution Certificate
  • Copy of EPIC, Aadhaar, or any other valid identity proof of the owner or representative collecting the sticker

The police stated that copies of the submitted documents will be retained for official records. Once the documents are verified and found to be valid, the sticker will be issued and must be affixed on the left side of the front windshield of the taxi or auto rickshaw.

The notification was issued by Dr. Hari Prasanth M. R., IPS, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), East Khasi Hills, on August 7, 2026.
