In the interest of public safety and to ensure the smooth movement of traffic along National Highway-6 (NH-6), the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District has issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, prohibiting the erection of unauthorized structures and unauthorized parking of trucks, heavy vehicles and other vehicles along the stretch of NH-6 from Tuber Shohshrieh to Malidor within the district.

The order was issued following reports of unauthorized structures at several locations along the highway, which may obstruct visibility and hinder the free movement of vehicles, thereby increasing the risk of road accidents resulting in loss of lives and property.

The District Administration has also observed unauthorized parking of trucks and other vehicles along the highway, causing obstruction to the smooth flow of traffic.

Accordingly, the order prohibits the construction of unauthorized structures and the parking of trucks, heavy vehicles and other vehicles along NH-6, except at parking areas specifically designated or authorized by the District Administration.

The District Magistrate has stated that any person found violating the order shall be liable for legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant provisions of law.

The order comes into force with immediate effect and it shall remain in force until further orders, added the District Magistrate.
